Statue of Liberty is Bobby Bradford and Marywood Kate. Beginning as a solo project for singer/songwriter Bradford, Statue of Liberty grew into an acoustic folk-rock duo with the addition of Marywood Kate in 2010.
Their music might be described as a unique blend of rock and pop, trimmed with alternative indie-folk; in a word: Americana. Employing traditional instrumentation with intricate harmonies, the duo draws from a wide pool of musical inspiration from artists like Wilco, Simon & Garfunkel, and Neil Young; creating an original sound that’s all their own.
After recording their first EP, “The Up State“, Bradford and Kate began touring in 2011. The duo spent three years on the road promoting their music, while recording their first full-length album, “The Radiant Life“. In 2014, Bradford and Kate relocated to Nashville, TN, where they spent time developing their performance and songwriting skills. Now, back in their hometown of Dubuque, IA, the couple is focused on writing their third album, while they continue to perform, teach, and contribute to the local music community.
